AMD and Opera [pcworld.com] announced a strategic partnership to embed Opera browser in AMD chips! (woohoo!)

"We think the embedded browser market is really growing. We expect it to outnumber PC browsers in two to three years," he says, "and this deal puts us on track to be a major player in this market."

I first bought Opera about two years ago, and I dug it from the very first. But I've always despaired that they or any other second tier browser could grab enough market share to make a difference.

This move sounds incredibly savvy. It will take a few years, but if they can help raise the bar for browser standards, that's a winner!
