Opera's core team just announced today that they have a local build that will pass the Acid3 test!

I always knew Opera was ahead of the pack. Impressive.

Somehow I don't think that will be making it into Opera 9.5. Maybe Opera 10?

OperaWatch is now reporting that the newset build of version 3 DID pass the Acid 3 test - 100%

In an internal build of the Opera browser, the Acid3 test, which was only very recently released, reached a 100% pass rate.

A technical preview of this internal Opera build will be posted on labs.opera.com in the next week or so.

No, it's not passed all of Acid3, just the 100 DOM tests.

From the comments:

Opera does not pass Acid 3. It passes the 100 DOM tests, but has a number of rendering issues.
