Protection violation errors with Opera 6.03

Has anyone else experienced protection violation errors with Opera 6.03? I've had these errors essentially every time I've run the browser... except for the last time, when my system froze and required a manual shutdown and major rebuilding of FAT tables and directory structure etc by Norton Disk Doctor.

I've notified Opera support and at this point am awaiting their response before I'd even considering running the program again. I was probably also running Windows Commander 4.52, NoteTabPro4.6a, and IE5.5 at some point or another along with Opera 6.03. Is anyone else with these programs having problems (or not having problems) running Opera?

This is the only version of Opera I've tried. I believe everybody when they say it's a good browser, so I'd love to sort this out.

Hello RC, no, I've not experienced that, and I use Opera 6.03 as my primary browser. If I find myself with too many programs open at one time (who me?) and clicking on multiple windows too quickly to the point where I may give Opera the "bum's rush" - I've always been able to just close out Opera with the three-fingered salute and restart right back where I was with no problems.

The first time this happened, after I exited Opera because of the violation error, when I tried dragging a file icon to a window in Windows Commander to copy it, the file wouldn't copy and I had to reboot to restore normal operation. This particular error didn't recur, but the browser has had problems every time I've run. I assume it's conflicting with something on my system.

It would seem so. Have you looked at the Opera discussion boards? I browse there for info and feedback.
