opera crash and loss of data

opera crashed and hotlist wiped out.

Opera crashed and after i relaunched it...

i had lost all my bookmarks and preferences, anyone experienced similiar? any chance of recovery, my backup was old and pretty out of date.

Here's what the Opera Knowledge Base [opera.com] has to say:

If your bookmarks are suddenly gone when starting Opera, you can try getting them back by importing them. Open File > Import > Opera bookmarks and browse your way to your Opera install directory. Select the file "Opera6.adr" and click "Open".

If this does not appear to work, please open this file in a text editor and look at the contents.

If the file or the contents of the file is missing, you may not be able to restore your bookmarks. This shouldn't normally happen, but could potentially happen during a crash/hard disk crash.

yes thanks for that, i'd imported a backup copy a little out of date but not too bad...

but the original file was blank, was just hoping that it was a known issue and there was a known solution to recovering the info.
