What setting or switch did I hit by accident? An example: When I search for...
"microsoft outlook" troubleshooting
It might turn into a search for:
"microsoft outlook" t176
-Not quite the results I had been looking for.

Hmm, you're not the first one I've seen reporting that. Which version of Opera, on which platform, are you using, and how are you searching (web page, using a shortcut search, search field in URL bar, search field in personal bar, etc)?
I'd recommend you file a bug report [opera.com] about it, stating the exact circumstances where it occur.

I'm using Windows 2K Pro and Opera 6.03. It's like certain strings are being converted and concatenated:0) No clue.

I'd need to see more than that. I've not run into anything like that. The only thing I could think of is maybe you have an encoding on? Try resetting it to automatic detection (under View -> Encoding)

Is it a laptop? If so, double check the number lock isn't on. It took me ages to wonder why when I pressed 'p' the computer put a '9' in.

It happens when I type into Search Results (for example): Finding + rental + deliver
Will search, but actually search for:
Finding + rental + de164

Yahoo! No problem in Google.

Type in "google forum" into the yahoo search box, and this is what I got back:
I use Opera a fair bit and have never noticed this before (probably because I never use Yahoo), but trying it now I'm getting the same results as madcat. The example search for: "microsoft outlook troubleshooting" is turned into "microsoft outlook trouble16a" and others do a similar thing. No problem with the search for "google forum" though. I'm also using Windows 2000 and Opera 6.03.

Ok, I see it too.
It is only Yahoo where it happens?

It appears to only occur when a plus is inserted between search terms. (Using yahoo home page, win2k, opera 6.05) (fine in other browsers, fine if no pluses)

Plus or not for me. I haven't tried other engines yet.

It even has the Opera techs stumped [groups.google.com] for now.
