I'm loving the javascript support in this release. It does well with the new standard DOM AND it's running some legacy stuff we've got that previous versions of Opera choked on.

It was a bit funny - IE 6 kept crashing on the FTP URL. I had to fire up Netscape 7 to download it.

Now I can't imagine going back. I don't know how long mouse gestures have been part of Opera, but they are unbelievable.

So far, the program has been rock solid for me. I did find that some image-swap stuff on one of my sites that works in everything else does not work in the new Opera, though :(

I am dazzled by the speed and configurablity. Anyone who has not tried it, really should.

One excellent new feature - the small screen simulator. A quick check on how your site will look on a next generation mobile phone or handheld.

Does anyone know where the folders are in Opera's Mail client? I can't do anything without folders!

Edit: Found them... They're in The Hotlist. What an annoying place for them to be.

Well, I just purchased the upgrade and I can see it will take a bit of getting used to. First impression is I like it. Seems a bit more intuitive but the jury is still out. ;)

This must be a big re-write of some core code. I see some rendering bugs that were not there in previous versions. For instance, using list-style-image, this beta displays BOTH a bullet and an image.

But I see some excellent steps forward (js support for one, as I mentioned above) and assume the bugs won't last. It's MIGHTY fast at rendering a page on my system. However I've run into enough bugs that I'll leave version 6 as my default browser for now.

Overall I'm impressed. The release timing was good for me because I've just finished a DOM js file. I set up a sniffer to exclude v6 and below from the file.

It handles almost everything perfectly with 1 minor exception. On one page I used js to position images in the corners of a division. Version 7 was miss-aligning the images onload if no scrollbars were present. I deleted the function and used a nested division hack and all is well. Actually better because non-DOM browsers can now display the images.

As it stands, this version seems to be able to handle almost anything after page load.

I find that the DOM support is great, but I still find some "bugs" in tab support. If I open two tabs, and load Webmasterworld in the first one, I can't do anything with the second one until the first one has loadad the page. The same happens when I try to open a new page and I want to read previously loaded pages. Opera "freezes" and I cannot do anything.
