It's getting to the point that I will stop using it all together because it is so frustrating when you have 5 or 6 pages open and are doing research and the thing crashes and you lose everything you have been searching around for.
Please tell me others know what I am talking about and that someone at OPERA inc is going to address this issue. Until then, back to the dependable IE!
Thanks

Not a lot, but it does happen, usually after a long and convoluted session. Opera's recovery when I relaunch is so sweet that I seldom am bothered by it -- it just feels like I tangled up the ball of string too tight.
One thing Opera never did was freeze my OS and require me to reboot the machine. IE does that. Opera "plays well with others" and doesn't hassle my OS - it prefers to quietly shut down rather than make a big mess.
And skins -- "What good is a skin," asks this old fart. I use default OS gray and kill all the graphics. I like my UI lean and unobtrusive.
And I haven't changed my Windows desktop away from "Black Thatch" which I first chose in 1996.
Nothin wrong with a little EYE candy....
though.
Well, I want to make sure I am clear on "multiple pages".
By that, I mean only 1 instance of opera running, but with multiple tabs with different pages in them. For example, 1 window with opera running and inside opera, 1 tab on yahoo.com, one on ebay, one on this message forum.
Haven't had a crash today yet, been about 2 hours.
Guess the skin isn't the issue. Just hope it doesn't happen very often. Like I said, I would say maybe it was a confined issue but I have 4 other machines with winxp pro and they do it as well! Maybe it is an html bug in one of the pages I have open which is crashing opera? I usually leave yahoo open all day and tend to frequent the same 3 or 4 sites--- maybe there is something in their html that opera doesnt like...
Opera 7.11 has been VERY stable for me. You could always try out the 7.20 beta1 to check if your problem is fixed:

This is a very early beta (but it seems stable) and might me worth a try.

LOL I thought that I was the only one with a thatch background. And I also use the default gray buttons for Opera.
I know what you mean, Sinner about the Java. I think that is the main "crash causing" issue.
Anyway, anyone in this forum that is having crash trouble, give that link a shot to get the beta of 7.20
The install doesn't say anything about a beta and I am stable so far.... even with many "tabs" open. Thanks again all, this is a great forum. -vamp
