Problems with mail client in Opera 7.22

Ever since Pegasus Mail crashed itself and my OS heavily some months ago I have been using Opera's mail client. It has been working alright, though I did not like the upgrade from 6 to 7. But with my upgrade to 7.22 something went wrong:

I have a number of mail addresses with two different ISP's. All of them worked perfectly and still do. But after the upgrade Opera can no longer fetch the mails from the mail addresses that I have with my domains at my web hosting company. The support of the web hosting company suggested that I try another mail client. I tried Mozilla and it worked.

Any suggestions what the problem might be?

Do you get an error message from Opera when you try to fetch mail?

No! (The support asked about that too.)

Is "Include account when checking manually" checked in the account properties (Mail->Manage accounts->choose account->Incoming)?

Yes. And when clicking I can see that the client actually visits the account and opens the folder, but it apparently does not read anything.
