I have just recently gotten into Internet marketing and have my own site. Is there a place I can get comments for it without having to buy them?

Hi Greg_P and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

You can sign up for Google My Business [google.com] which is free, but you'll need to go through a verification process. Then Google+ [plus.google.com] users can add comments and reviews to your site, which will appear in the Search Results.

Bing Places for Business [bingplaces.com] has pretty much the same thing.

There's also Yelp [yelp.com] and others that may be specific to your type of website/business.

You can also ask your visitors/customers to submit reviews at any of the above.

After these entities collect a bunch of comments, you could then copy them to a place on your own site and include citation.

Welcome to ww! Comments that are natural work best. Have a great site and spread it around to generate buzz. UGC is not as successful as it once was, but you can add a User Reviews section to your site to get things rolling.

People are becoming wise to unnatural comments, so I wouldn't recommend starting there.
If it's ecommerce, encourage genuine buyers to review and if that doesn't work, you could offer a discount coupon for subsequent purchases.

Thanks for everyone's input. I've looked at Google My Business but thought it was for businesses that have a physical office location. I have a Word Press site so unless I'm mistaken, has already been set up to allow comments..I'll take a look through some of the other sites which were mentioned and see what I can find out about them.

Try that on site review thing first. It will help provide some insight on how you are doing ... and whether you want to try to expand to third party reviewing sites (with the caveats I mentioned above).

Yes, and this is somewhat of an indicator. Many resources that could benefit your business are not available to you unless you present your business as a physical entity (even if it isn't.) Consider using a mailable address.

See where your competitors' backlinks are located. This is the easiest way. Then you can find forums, Q/A services, sites in your niche.
