I am basically lost with all this SEO info...I have a fair understanding about SEO and the basics, but as far as Directories , article submissions etc, i am really lost, even with effective linking there seems to be so much info, positive and negative..so I am a bit sceptical on what to start looking at..
I am basically looking to increase my knowledge on SEO and obviously Forums are the best knowledge base! Is there a SEo for Dummies, or something, I am very behind and need to get the best advice tips, hell even a mentor to assist with great knowledge?
I have tried to follow my onw simple steps of basic SEO, keeping it simple, keyword rich text, basic site maps, keyword titles, tags etc...but I need a some direction on how to achieve the best results and what are the better tools out there, "keyword tools" submit software" or if these are not even worth it? To be honest I cannot afford expensive software and need this knowledge,
Much appreciated for the help, and excuse me if I posted this in the wrong discussion..
A good plce to start are the library posts here at WebmasterWorld. Every now and then a discussion thread contains so much unique and valuable material that the moderators decide that that thread deserves a place in the library. You will find a link to the library of every subforum here in the header of each page, at the line where also the forum moderator are named.
Another good thing is to visit the Google search forum [webmasterworld.com] here. Newest features in the Google search engine are discussed here. There are also forums about Live and Yahoo, but as Google is the largest search engine, trying to understand Google's behaviour is a good start. Many of the techniques that help in making a site visible and ranking in Google also work for the other search engines.
