I quite like the idea of a debate forum as it seems to cut out all the nonsense and people get to the point.

For and Against seems to work really well and I love their site.

Is there an off the shelf option for this kind of site ?

What would be the best way of going about creating one ?

Is it possible to adapt something else to come up to standard..

Some advice would be great..

Hi Lobo,

Im what way will your debate forum be different to a discussion forum. Would it be possible to modify a forum script to meet your requirements? or are you needing some specific features.

Mack.

Thanks mack ..

I guess I've been looking for a site that is more debate focused and recently discovered forandagainst.com which is just perfect.

Their set up is great, the way new posts or comments are updated, the layout etc etc .. really I can't fault it, and I suppose my basic question is "how did they do that" ..

I don't have the skills to create that from scratch myself ( I don't think) and was hoping one of the more familiar forum software out there could adapt to it, or if I was to attempt to build it, I'd need a load of heads up info and wondered where do I start..

I tried contacting the people involved and not unremakably they have not returned my enquiry..

I guess I could have a closer look at what is going on there, but that only gives me the html, the php and javascript includes and I don't think that would be enough to disseminate what is going on and certainly no access to the databaste structure..

I think it is the 'on the fly' updates I like the 1 post each and then added comments is good..

I think I could add to it and create something new and interesting, like listening to a good musician you take those chords and sing your own song.. trouble is I can't quite pick out the notes and work out how to acheive it..

Any ideas.. ?
