Microsoft is beginning to roll out a preview of Microsoft Search to Office.com, Bing.com and the SharePoint Mobile app.
The unified Microsoft Search will be coming to Edge, Windows and other versions of Office this year, and through into 2019.

Bing for Business is now called Microsoft Search in Bing

I asked Senior Product Manager Naomi Moneypenny if the unification of Microsoft Search across Microsoft's properties meant this type of Cortana-free search experience would come to Windows 10. She said (in an emailed response): "Microsoft Search as a cohesive capability will manifest through many different search experiences across Microsoft 365 (in Office, Windows and more). Cortana could use Microsoft Search as a resource in her interactions with you, depending on your query."

Maybe I'm a curmudgeon, but why unify all this search? One of the first things I do on a new Windows setup is turn off the web SERPs. When I'm searching in Windows I want results about the machine. When I'm searching Windows Explorer I want results from my files. If I want Bing SERPs I'll open a browser and go to Bing.com.

Does anyone actually like these combined SERPs?

Anything to link mouth to teat. Some will find this okay... but me, still like to do it the hard way ... MYSELF. YMMV.
