Over one million PCs acting as a botnet is a massive number of infected machines. I wonder how it can get that far. Is it that these people have inadequate antivirus protection, or are they just blaze at file swapping!

I know a number of people that just don't get how important it is to get effective antivirus software and procedures in place. I've worked very hard over the years to inform and educate. I wonder if Win 10 will give these people any better p[rotectio0n. I really hope so.

Law enforcement agencies from around the globe, aided by Microsoft security researchers, have today announced the disruption of one of the most widely distributed malware families – Win32/Dorkbot. This malware family has infected more than one million PCs in over 190 countries.

Dorkbot spreads through USB flash drives, instant messaging programs, and social networks. It steals user credentials and personal information, disabling security protection, and distributing several other prevalent malware families. Is it possible this network also used advertising to spread to so many computers?

AFAIK Win10 is highly efficient security-wise however infections don't even need to be on the computers, just the routers. The routers can drone.
