Quixey Chief Executive Tomer Kagan invited developers to begin what he says will be “a long conversation” to build apps in a way that Quixey can search and index them independently of Google or Apple Inc.

“Search today is a master-slave relationship. Google determines how you get viewed,” said Mr. Kagan, adding although people use each app for a different purpose, they are displayed in searches without distinction. Mobile users are directed to an app’s home page when they actually want to land several links deeper to gather information and take action.
