Is it possible to make it possible for users to be able to have the option "set as background" without changing every picture to gif.

What OS you have? I have XP and I can do .jpg and .bmp. If there is an issue with .jpg, why don't you just convert it for testing reasons? My computer is fully updated.

After re-reading your post, can you describe what you are trying to set, and how you are doing it? You mentioned "different sites on the web"?

I went to different sites on the net that offers background for the computer and it was the same problem, I could not use the function "set as background" but only jpg.
If I try to "set as background" my background wich is on my computer is gone.
It is kind of wierd.

Accepting "wallpaper" from sites can be very dangerous ..it's a real good way of importing spyware , keyloggers etc ...
