The one step in here that's not really common sense is that you need to do the Windows 10 upgrade first, before you do the clean install of Windows 10. I guess that has to do with the licence checks. In the past you could just grab the ISO and all you needed was the product key.

Well I already have that ISO file burnt to disc - if needed. Can't hurt.

I have no immediate plans to upgrade the Desktop PC from Windows 8.1 simply because I see no particular advantage in it for me, nor can I see any discernible improvement. The only difference between the Laptop and the PC is the Laptop has "Microsoft Edge", which I don't like at all, and OneDrive which is in hibernation.

To be fair - Windows 10 does have some very stunning splash screens on start up. If you can impress an old jaded me, then it must be real good.

This is a very nice tutorial that you shared to us. I appreciated it. My 5-year old laptop might not have the capacity to install Windows 10 due to its limited storage, memory and already old. But in case I have another one that has no Windows 10 yet, this tutorial is a big help.
