Microsoft confirms plans to sell Windows 10 on USB drives, opens preorders on Amazon

We reached out to Microsoft to see if the company’s stance has changed. Microsoft didn’t specifically comment on the Amazon pages, but it did confirm for the first time what everyone has suspected: You’ll be able to buy Windows 10 on a USB stick and install the new OS without needing a DVD drive.

It's about time. Most of the new machines don't even come with DVD drives anymore.

I saw that and wondered how that was going to work with drive-less systems - I was assuming it was going to be a download, but a USB drive is a sensible option for those that want to keep a copy for those times when it's all gone horribly wrong.

On a Microsoft O/S? Say it ain't so!

Well, a USB stick sure beats the old days of installing Windows from floppies...
