Disabling caps lock key

No one has yet posted a complete registry method of turning off the caps lock key, the worst design abortion on the keyboard.

Jon_King came closest, but he failed to explain how to enter his scancode, whether you have to reboot, and why it doesn't work whatever you do.

Does anyone one know the FULL story of how to avoid the second most time wasting design fault on a PC? (The first, of course, being Microsoft Windows)

Presumably, you wish to disable the CapsLock key because you hit is accidentally, continue to type, and then have to correct what you've done.

If this is the case, then don't disable it - all you have to do is enable the optional beep to notify you that you've pressed it. I've been using this feature for years.

Look in Control Panel¦Accessibility Options¦Keyboard and tick the box labelled Use ToggleKeys.
