How to make my application start just after GUI.

I want to secure my Win98 using a program that I have written myself. My program provides complete security but all that is left is to make it run as the first program at the startup i.e. prior to running any other windows program (even before the taskbar or desktop icons are loaded)

MY program is a Win32 application.

please help me..

What does the program do?

The program asks for user name and password and validates it against a list to grant access. It is written in VB6.
please tell me how to load it first? The registry key "RUN" doesn't make the it run "first" however; the program does load at startup... but not as the first program. :(

You could try using WIN.INI to load it, however, there is a strong possibility that Windows will fail to boot (even in safe mode) so have a boot disk handy so that you can re-edit WIN.INI

What about setting your program to be the shell and then having your program start Explorer.exe?

Are you sayin.. "system.ini"

shell=myprog.exe
...
and then my vb prog calling shell (explorer.exe)

I tried that and the program started first, a success! but not so fast there... ;)
One prob. calling shell(explorer.exe) only opened an explorer window. Wht abt the tasbkar and desktop icons? They weren't loaded.
