Secure Connection Question on Wireless Router

I've just ventured into the world of wireless networking at my home office.

I don't understand why, when I look at the available network connections I have 8 listed. One is default-unsecured and then seven secure connections, some of those have weird names like 'Homestead'.

What and where did these choices come from? All of the secure choices just time out and won't make a connection. Only the default unsecured connection seems to work.

Can someone help me understand what connection to use and why?

Sounds like you are within range of several of your neighbor's wireless networks. If they have them moderately secured then you won't be able to connect to them that easily even though they show up in your connection list.

You'll want to give your wireless connection a unique name so you can recognize it among the others. This name is usually set on your wireless router, not Windows.
