Outlook Express - somehow deleted months of emails!

Hello all,

Yesterday my Outlook Express asked me if I wanted it to compress the emails in order to save disk space. I decided to do this. It took a few minutes and once it had finished the computer practically froze on me and I had no other choice but to restart it without shutting down Windows.

A little while after it had restarted I went to check my emails, however I noticed that there were no emails in there after the 20th October. In other words, it had deleted the last 4-5 months of emails, including some that I had marked as Unread.

Has this happened to anybody else before and/or does anybody know of a solution? Is there some sort of a backup that I can retrieve the emails from?

I assume you should look into the autoarchive settings of your email client.

Also check to see if you had System Restore monitoring that drive. It may have retained some of your more recent mail files.
