Here is one I am totally stumped on:

In windows xp I run "command" and want to navigate here:

Now I can successfully cd to this point: C:\wamp\bin\mysql\

but when I attempt to cd to mysql5.1.32 it will not let me.

It seems the "." characters are causing the trouble. I have attempted to escape them in many ways, have done hours of Googling to no avail.

What is the secret?

use quotation marks around your path:
cd "C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.32\bin"

BTW, did you know you can start keying and press the tab key, just like in Unix bash? Windows will finish the path for you. It's not quite as good as bash, but it does come in handy!
