US Keyboard Setting but UK in Regional settings

It appears after a new installation of windows xp on a damaged system at work we have the UK setting applied in all options (regional setting / keyboard setting) but the keys are actually still stuck in US settings...... :, @, #

In the Control Panel can you change the settings in the Regional and Language Options? On the Languages tab you can alter the keyboard layout by pressing the Details... button and adding or removing keyboards.

Make sure you at least have System Restore working before you mess around if you don't know what you're doing. That or a good backup is always recommended.
