The statistics in Windows Task Manager

Hi all,
I am wondering what the statistics in Windows Task Managers are. (I know what cpu usage is, haha)
For example, PF usage and those 4 sections below PF usage.

Could any one explain this to me?

Is Regmon just like a task manager? It seems like a great tool for monitoring processes. I will try it. thanks

no ..regmon tells you when something is trying to change your system.( it monitors your registry ).read extensively around the site and you will learn much about taskmanager and what is running and what it tells you ..( each system / computor does not have exactly the same things running as another ) ..however as those guys teach 'doze to the geeks at redmond they are the place to learn ..there are many pages inside the site dealing with specific items in taskmanager and some insights into how ( for example in the sony rootkit item in the site ) one can tell what is doing what in ones system with taskmanager as the start point ..

PF Usage

The amount of paging file being used by the system. If your computer is running near the maximum, you can increase the page file size.

You can also kill your XpPro ( like never get out of the boot cycle ..never get past halfway into checkdisk before it goes beep again and again and again and... )if you mess with the page file size at the point that your power source decides to get a little wiggy ..been there done that ..the resultant mess is sitting about 1.5 meters from me ..some ram is also sulking at me in the same box ..

I wouldn't mess with page file on a first date with the workings of XP ..XP is "cute" :( ..if it aint broke don't try to fix it ..if it is broke it usually wont let you ..I have shelves to put up and dogs to walk before I try to get it to at least let me run in "safe" again ..all "restore points" are gone ..robust code?..HAH!

I only know this beeping sound happens when my RAM has problem or it's not compatible with my motherboard.

Hmm, did you mean that you can changed the page file size? I thought OS decides the PF size according to how much ram you have.

Yes ..usually indicates ram problem ..due to missmatch of two manufacturers ram boards ..or they are for different speeds or one is wiggy or almost whatever ..

ram should always be matched if possible 2 x 256 or 2 x 512 etc..

but XP will make your box make this noise for many other reasons ..such as faulty power supply ..fan motor dying ..Cpu overheating ..grannies birthday ..sunspots ..lutins :)
