Tried logling into to WebmasterWorld and initially it took. Then when redirected I got an error saying that my broswer did not accept cookies. I tried with three different browsers, opera, IE and Firefox. Some sites the cookies would work but others the cookie wouldn't hold. I restarted the OS, made sure all browsers were set to accept cookies, and I still couldn't log in.

I finally did a system restore and that solved the problem. Did I have a gremlin in the system or what possible explanations could ther be for this instance? Very strange indeed as no new anti-anything software was installed.

Was this problem limited to WebmasterWorld?

Opera and FF handle cookies separately from IE, which uses the settings in the Internet Properties (found via Control Panel or IE [Tools¦Internet Options...]) Those cookie settings should not affect other browsers.

My guess would be a WebmasterWorld glitch, but if it was happening everywhere then you may have something in your system. If you don't have any malware scanning tools installed I suggest you get some.

Cookies worked on about 80% of the sites. I had all browsers set to accept cookies and I even ran a spyware check to see if that was causing the problem. So I'll have to write it off as gremlins.

If anything like that happens, I always recommend switching off (software) firewalls and retesting.
