I have been trying to install the latest patches, the ones for the print spooler and whatnot, and all 5 will not install. I patched the computer once the patches came out for this newest worm, and my AV doesn't find anything at all in either safe mode or regular boot.
Anyone have any ideas?

There are many possible reasons why this might happen. I've reached the point with some systems where I had to use Microsoft's help desk to get these issues resolved. They'll do that via e-mail for free if it has to do with their update service.
The first step I would recommend would be to do a custom install and try to do each single update separately. Some may fail, but others may go through. This is one way you can determine which update is causing the trouble.

You can also try exiting out of all your applications. If that doesn't work, you go into Task Manager and look for processes that aren't part of the operating system and end those.

bill, Thanks for the reply. I am now trying to install vs.net 2002 sp1, and I'm not too sure on how it will do. Single installations sounds like the route to go.

On one of my troubled machines the MS support crew had me install everything from Safe Mode. This prevents a lot of unnecessary services from interfering. You might want to try installing from Safe Mode and turning off any firewall or virus software you may have running. Those are the first things the MS people had me do.

Well I was able to get them to install one at a time, after i did the vs.net 2002 sp1 upgrade. However, that doesn't help when i try to just click the checkbox and update from there. Guess it's now going to technet and grabbing them by kb number.

Once you're able to get them all installed individually you should be able to go back to using the Windows Update method for future patches.
