Hello,

I downloaded oracle 10 and don't know how to install it. I read the installation guide and still cannot have a clue. I install Oracle 8 before usind CD, and I wonder I need to burn it into a CD to install? That sounds stupid.

Thanks for your asap answer.

Hello again,

In my previous question, I refer to installing Oracle 10 on PC with XP.

If the file you have downloaded is an .iso file, then yes you will need to burn a CD (use the "burn disk image" option).

MS has an unsupported product that lets you mount an ISO image as a drive letter. It's very simplistic but it works really well. It's called, Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel for Windows XP.

Bill, am I allowed to post a link to a MS download?

If not then I guess sticky me and I'll send you the URL.

Bill told me it was alright to post the link so here it is:

from the MSDN Subscriber Downloads FAQ [msdn.microsoft.com]

Mounting ISO files virtually
The following tool for Windows XP allows image files to be mounted virtually as CD-ROM devices. This tool is provided here for your convenience, and is unsupported by Microsoft Product Support Services.
