Microsoft Launches OneCare Beta

OneCare [beta.windowsonecare.com] is a service that will give Windows XP users managed anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, data backup & restore, and other services. This will be an all inclusive tune-up and maintenance service for Windows users that covers three categories: protection, performance, and backup.

Although the more technical among us probably won't personally see the need for something like this I'm sure you can see the market potential for the less-than-technical market. Rumor has it that this will be a yearly subscription based service although no prices have been mentioned yet.

It appears the OneCare beta has moved into the next stage. They are now publicly accepting nominations for the beta program in the United States [microsoft.com].

According to reports I've read Microsoft is looking to have the final version of Windows OneCare Live ready in early 2006.
