how to record Voices with microphone to Laptop win 2000

help please.

I really need help. I am going to the meeting next week with my Dell laptop window 2000.I need to record the meeting thru microphone and record to the laptop so I can burn CD and give to my boss.
I know window has ulitily record voice but it's only 60 secs.
I need to record 3 hrs straight to my laptop.
What is the best way to tackle this problem. Do you know any Freesoftware. Please let me know.

The Windows Media Encoder is free from Microsoft and will handle streaming audio and video on the fly.

So you wanna record voices! ... Darn, I forgot what they were using on that x-files episode :)

Actually, any of the above two suggestions should do the job. It has been a while, but I seen both of the above techniques in use for recording audio. We had some difficulties once when we had not disabled the "power save mode" and the screen saver. Make sure you have plenty of RAM, and a whole lot of free drive space on your laptop. Depending on sampling rate (or frames/sec setting for video capture) your drive could start filling up pretty fast.

Works in most cases except for those special voices some folks report hearing once in a while. ;)
