Hello,

I have a windows 2000 server machine running as the Primary (only) domain controller on our network called 'server'. A lot of the profiles and logon scripts use the \\server as a path, and now I have a problem.

I have built a new server (hardware) and want to bring this new server up as a replacement to the current server, but with all the network settings that we have setup now such as users/computers/dns and profiles/policies. For this to work smoothly, the old server needs to come down, the new one come up, as the network server, but with everything to do with network settings kept.

Has anyone had any experience with doing this successfuly - were there any major pitfalls etc?

Cheers,

Hmm, why don't you ghost the old server to another hard disk, plug that hard disk into the new machine and setup the drivers, then just swap machines? Am I missing something?
