Restored Windows Home But Lost Everything!

Cannot retrieve original folders etc

Hi there

I restored windows home edition on my Compaq PC, following the on-screen instructions it said it was making a backup of all files and folders... now I cannot access the folder "Owner" as a msg pops up saying:

"C:\Documents and Settings\... is not accessible. Access is denied."

If i don't find a way to access it I'll have lost nearly everything!

can anyone shed some light on this and point me in the right direction?

Do a file search for a particular filename you used to have and let Windows search all available partitions on all hard disks. You may find where it has been moved to.

If you google for "not accessible. Access is denied" the first serp has a possible solution:

"Logging into Admin in Safemode allowed me to change the permissions.... "
