Strange Outlook Problem

Hi all

I've got a weird problem with outlook on a toshiba laptop (WINXP PRO with SP2, Mcafee Firewall, WIN OFFICE PRO)

I use it networked and by dial-up. The network is fine, but it won't dial up when the network isn't there (its set up to connect when network is offline). Yet, the test access works fine with these settings, and when i change to straight dial-up connection it works

No biggie, just annoying

Any ideas much appreciated

Chiini,

Try this:
From outlook (assuming you are using Outlook 2003)
Go to Tools, Email accounts, click on view accounts, then next.
click on the account in question, then change
then click on More settings and go to the connection tab.

Try some of these options on and off, the last option (modem, and select the dial up conneciton you are using, is the most likely one to fix you up.)

Give that a try.

thanks for the reply

tried everything several times, and having no luck

i can connect when i dial up before opening outlook, and when i tell it to just dial. It just doesn't even try to dial when set as secondary option

getting a little frustrated lol

i've just figured it out - my brain needs a rest

you have to tell outlook that you're offline - it can't figure it out for itself
