The patch fixes two vulnerabilities in the IE.
This is the 20th "security advisory" issued by Microsoft this year.

At least they are being more open about these things now and are starting to pay attention to the community at large. I dont think m$ can do a lot more than they are doing. Every piece of software is only secure untill someone finds a weakness.

We just notive it a lot more from microsoft because they are a major company. When something linux becomes a security risk it is left to the community to repair and offer updates. With such a large community this is very fast, but also a lot less public. With M$ is has to be developoed and anounced through the company, and lets face it we all love having a dig at Microsoft.

What about making less bugy software?
What about using its monopolistic position to create better products.
What about using some of its 52% profit margin to test the software properly.
And when you compare Linux with windows please do mention price difference.

Well when you're at the top people are only to willing to exploit this. Any software can be unsecure if someone is targeting it.

To an extent m$ have brought this upon themselves simply by being the market leader. Hackers and crackers seam to love exploiting any weakness they can find.

"And when you compare Linux with windows please do mention price difference."

Is this the price for the software or the price for the support?

We have been down this road before. I like linux and use it as test server and sometimes desktop. I also use Windows. Both get the job done so I use either.

The cost factor can be seen as swings and roundabouts. You pay less for linux software but more for support and IT services. You pay more for windows but get suport deals included in the liscence cost.
