Hi i'm not using port 80 in this instance but another one and for some reason i have to navigate to my domain:portnumber to see anything. Does anyone know what setting i should change to just use..domain name and not domainname:portnumber. I'm on windows 2003 with iis6. I've added the domain name to the host header section but i still have to go to domain:portnumber to see anything..

(1) open up "Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager" from the admin control panel.

(2)Under "Web Sites" Select your website, It might be the only one listed. Right Click, and select properties.

(3) Change the TCP port to 80, and hit apply.

Port 80 is the HTTP port. All websites and browsers implicitly use port 80 (or 443 for HTTPS).

ie: http://example.com/ is a request for http://example.com:80/ with the Port 80 bit implicit.

So if you use a different port, you have to specify that port when you contact the web server. The solution is to use port 80 with host header names configured, or multiple IP addresses.
