I had a problem with the server yesterday and had to reboot. we have around 30 websites and several ftp sites on it. Currently running IIS5 and win2k.
Today I was perusing log files and wanted to do an IP lookup and I couldn't get the page to display. I then tried a bunch of sites... "Page cannot be displayed." Funny, websites are up and running.
So via cmd... all nslookups are good... everything resolving. I can ping any IP addresses. I can ping all NetBios names...
I cannot ping any domain names of FQDNs. I get a "host not found.
I think I hosed the TCP/IP stack or Winsock. I cannot fix it from what I can tell without deleting winsock values in regedt and re-intalling TCP/IP.
Question for the gurus out there... I have seen some fixes that can be downloaded and have read some reviews on how well these work for corrupted winsock registry settings. Anyone ever use any of these? Anyone else ever had this sort of problem?
I already went down the whole DNS path. I run my own DNS servers and DNS is not the issue. ipconfig, nslookup, etc, all show normal settings. I just can't ping or access domain names.
any help?
