Hi.

I've just purchased a new laptop and am trying to set up IIS. I've set up IIS 6 before without an issue but IIS 7 won't support the file extension .asp, after looking at the MIME types I noticed that asp is no longer listed, however it is listed under .vbs.

I don't want to have to change every file ext each time I move files from one server to another so I added .asp to the MIME types with the same type as .vbs. the page now loads fine now but none of the vbscript is parsed.

I made a quick test page with text "html text" and a response.write("asp text") (also tried <%="asp text"%>) and only the html text displayd.

Any help would be great as to why this is happening?

I've tried uninstalling IIS and reinstalling it but Vista obviously recognises it has a config already and defaults back to the original. only static pages will work on my server now which frankly sux. I wish I'd never gone for vista at all now as I've had to buy several new apps as it continously states that this sofware is not compatible with the operating system. (antivirus, spam blocker etc) I feel like I've been ripped big time now nothing works.

Just to top it off even vista itself can't decide #*$! is going on as it keeps saying that xp powertoy needs windows xp or greater to operate. what is xp powertoy? It is not part of any software I have installed.

lossing the will to live with it. off to download apache, mysql, php and phpmyadmin. and if they won't work at least they were FREE!

Well if anyone does ever read this topic and has the same issue then you can now find the answer here.

But I still prefer the 4 tools above for development. Shame I can't choose what clients require.
