[slashcode.com...] says:

Most of the code should work fine on Windows. However, there is no liklihood that Slash will ever be ported by us to work with IIS. Slash requires Apache. Hopefully, it will work fine with the Windows version of Apache, when we get around to playing with it on Windows.

This basically means: "don't do this unless you're pretty much a guru in running Perl on IIS and want to re-write large sections of code."

Slash is the 'great granddaddy' of many, many different other content management systems whose means of site organization is more or less the same as slashcode's. These slash-a-like content management systems are also frequently called the '*nukes' since php-nuke was such a popular (but also notorious) one of the slashalikes, and many other cms's sprouted out of php-nuke's code. Slash is written in perl; most slash-alikes are in PHP.

If you really need to work with IIS, and want a slash-like site, you could use asp-nuke, can't figure out if [asp-nuke.com...] (looks old) or [rot.dk...] is the homepage (maybe the latter is a 'fork'). Other members of this forum might also know asp alternatives for building a site that's organized like slashdot, I'd be suprised if there aren't more out there which are high-quality alternatives. Otherwise, you could also install PHP on IIS, see [be2.php.net...] this would offer a much better solution than trying to install perl and work with code that only works partially with IIS. Then you could use a slash-alike like mambo site server, post-nuke, xoops, or geeklog, all free. Any of these will give you a slash-like site and probably all can be run on IIS. For further info ask in the PHP forum if you go down this route.
