Optimising asp sites

Can someone give me an insight into how one would go about optimising an asp site. Our site's page are driven from a database and as a result we end up with URLs like - www.mysite.com/folder.asp?id=123

I understand that search engines can index these but the page rank will never be shared across these pages. What is the best way for me to optimise the site. I have been thinking about creating a sub domain such as www.keywords.mysite.com where I can add static content and pages which then link to the product pages (and implementing a back links campaign for this sub domain) - would this be a more practical solution. Also i know its possible to publish dynamic pages as static pages but we are unable to do this as the content management system will not support this.

Any help and advice much appreciated
Thanks
