Emails sent straight to BadMail when using IIS SMTP Server

Hi all

New to the site and hope someone can help me. I've posted this to the newbie section as well as it seemed relevant at the time, hope no-one minds.

Basically, my problem is this. I've installed IIS 6.0 on Windows Server 2003. AFAIK it is all configured correctly. I telnet in using "telnet localhost 25" and then send a mail. The mail goes straight to the Badmail folder, after being queued for next to no time. Try as i might, I can't get a message to leave my local computer.

Does anyone know what the problem is? My basic problem is I'm not even sure how IIS sends the mail into the 'outside world'. Also, I am behind a firewall, but this shouldn't block outgoing?

Any answers would be *very* gratefully received.

Check the event log for SMTP messages....any errors would be recorded there.

found the answer, it was so simple it's embarrasing :) i was, without thinking, using xx@localhost as a FROM field. of course, the server at the other end didn't like that and was bouncing it. dimbulb that i am... using a valid email address sorted it all out.

cheers,
