Interesting that it's not yet at the index page here at WebmasterWorld and mentioned just as a side note in the media. As i see it, it's one of the biggest problems for Microsoft since ever.
The world's largest software maker alerted the public on Thursday that parts of its valuable source code for its Windows NT and Windows 2000 (news - web sites) operating systems had been leaked to various online file-sharing networks. --- The concern is that in the wrong hands, virus writers and hackers could discover vulnerabilities in the software and use it to break into PCs running on Windows 2000 or NT to destroy or steal data.

But, also, the good guys can find the vulnerabilities and suggest fixes -- something Microsoft has had extreme difficulty doing.
One advantage of open source is said to be better security.
