I have a new a new PC running XP and I am setting up new mail accounts with Outlook Express 6.0. I can send and receive emails but each time Outlook checks for mail it is prompting me for a password.

During the set-up of the account, under the 'Servers' tab in the 'Incoming Mail Server' section, I did supply a password and I also checked off the "Remember Password" box. This has not helped. In fact, even after having done this, and hitting "Apply" and the "Okay", it seems these setting are not really taking. The reason I say this is that if I leave the 'Servers' tab and go back to it, the password field is now blank (but the "Remember Password" button is still checked off).

I have tried a few things, deleting the mail accounts and starting over, re-booting etc, but nothing seems to work.

Is there some security setting perhaps at the XP level that is not allowing Outlook Express to remember the password I am supplying.

Any thoughts or help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Haven't heard of that one, but check here [support.microsoft.com] for a possible solution.

Good luck,

Have come across the same problem, the solution given by 2OddSox seems to work.
