Suggestions for a packaged ASP solution for rentals and FSBO site

I'm not a pro so it's hard for me to judge "what's out there"

I've done a bit of web searching for a pre-packaged (customizable) ASP based solution for developing online ForSaleByOwner or ForRentByOwner sites and, frankly, I'm not up to the task of judging what's junk and what will work without a lot of fixing up.

Is anyone aware of any ASP based programs that would do the trick? I colo with a company that provides access to a server running MS SQL for hosting dbs.

If I were to purchase an ASP solution wouldn't any person experienced with ASP be as capable, if not moreso, of modifying the product as the company that created it in the first place? The reason I ask is that in shopping around I don't necessarily want to be married to the company I purchase the product from.

Given the plethora of rentals and listings sites I'm hoping that by now there should be some decent software at affordable prices.

Hi Jeff. I'm not sure what is available for your specific need, but I do know that there are tons of pre-written programs available for many needs. Shop around places like www.aspin.com for ideas.

If the company sells you the complete source code then yes, any competent ASP programmer should be able to make modifications for you.

However, many of these places that sell ASP programs will only allow you to modify the look and feel. The ASP portion of the code will be encrypted. In that case you will be married to the vendor.
