browscap.ini

Is it still used in .NET?

I have been maintaining, and making available for download an updated browscap.ini file for classic ASP for awhile now.

I haven't tinkered with ASP.NET yet but I was wondering if it still relies upon browscap.ini as a datasource for browser definitions.

Yes and no. There is browscaps, but it is now an XML file. See this [msdn.microsoft.com]. <Warning, that page doesn't work in Opera posing as IE>

Interesting. I wonder is there is a way to check for a user agent and reject it. You know, like return a 401 error or something. That would be very useful indeed...
