Here at the office we use index server for our searching (as you do).
A department has asked if their page can be ranked more highly if users search with some specific keywords/phrases.
Is it just a matter of adding more keywords into the page or is there another way of "tweaking" a page to perform better in search results using index server.

Index Server: A Technical Overview [microsoft.com]
P.S. Those users who want more visiblity in the search results will have to do some SEO/SEM work to get there! ;)
We run IIS and use it as the backend to our websites searching. To extend the ISS capability we developed a series of asps which filter and arrange the pages. Added to this we generated an extra filter which reads the TITLE and SUBJECT headings in the metadata so the primary pages are always top-most in the result set. The finally filter doesn't require a re-indexing if a new primary page is loaded - it just comes up as part of the search.
