LocalSearch.com has just been sold for a 7 figure sum. I considered buying the domain a year before it was actually registered (before Local Search was the accepted term). It was available and, like a fool, I didn't register it.
The sale does also include an unspecified stake in the American Towns Network.

I'm quite sure most of the value came from the company, not the domain.
Local.com went for $700k a few years. On top of that, LocalSearch.com gets *VERY* little organic traffic.
Mis-leading headline.
