Yahoo updates Maps

Yahoo has updated Yahoo Maps functionality. Check it out [maps.yahoo.com].

Some of the notables:

- Integration in to YLocal with browsing
- click and drag functionality a la Gmaps
- the mini box navigation in the upper right

the integration with local.yahoo data is pretty slick. excellent interface also. I haven't looked at their api and how easy it will be for developers, but if they one-up google on that aspect as well it makes for a very impressive offering.

sorry MoneyMan, don't want to hijack...but they also have a preview of what kind of app can be build w/ their maps api & a little upcoming.org (i assume) info. very cool, I think I need to check out that web 2.0 thread again.

Interesting stuff on the API. Will Yahoo maps become the next mashup fad? Time will tell.

It's interesting that they chose Flash as the underlying technology. Not exactly the most accessible method. It's crazy hard to zoom in and zoom out and generally to use them. I think it sucks :)
