Google has dropped the Zip code in its listings

Has anyone noticed this change and known the reason?

When you make a local query, Google was used to list 10 local services with their address, phone, Zip code, distance direction. Now, the Zip code listing has been dropped from the list.

Does anyone know the reason of this change?

The zip codes are appearing for me. Maybe it was a temporary glitch.

I don't see any Zip code on this page. How do you see?

I don't see it now. (scratching my head) I could have sworn I saw it on that page this morning. Guess I need another cup of coffee.

Postal codes for Canada and UK still show.

Perhaps Zip Codes are evil?

And what is also odd is that Yahoo Local also does not display the zip code on the first page. (Both Google and Yahoo Local dislay the zip codes on the second page.)

Any thoughts on why this is? Why are they both doing it that way? Is it really an issue of space or something else?

Given that people like me find the lack of zip codes annoying when harvesting results, you may have your answer :-).
