My profile page on WW shows PR6.
Do I get a PR6 link if I add my homepage to my profile?

It shows up in my backlinks so I guess that means 'yes'

Pretty Sure that there is a post/member type threshold though - I think Brett said that only members with posts over 100 get indexed (that may have changed when Brett changed the member counts recently)

Hi JudgeJeffries,

Brett says in this thread [webmasterworld.com], that the member profiles are only for logged-in forum members. No access for search engine bots.

I am pretty sure that there is a post limit below which bots do not get to see the page, above it they do. About three months ago I started seeing my profile in my Google backlinks, and it has shown ever since.

I do not remember what threshold I passed at the time, but it certainly was higher than 100.

It's 100 post counts as far as I know. It is related to your member status I think. So if you become a Full member your profile page gets indexed :)

Doesnt seem to square up to Bretts comments in the thread that namenick mentions above.
How about some clarification from the man who can?

JudgeJefferies,

Look carefully at what Brett wrote:

I have given a great deal of thought to the issue and I think the window on public profiles is drawing to a close. Profiles will still be accessible to logged in members, but email harvestors, search engine bots, and other bots that can't log into the system will be locked out.

I have added italics for emphasis in suitable places, Brett was (and maybe still is) thinking of making a change, but never said it would happen.

He also was clearly not happy with that decision:

I've wanted to leave public profiles out there in the open as a perk to members. If members are willing to contribute to the community, then they should receive the benefits of quality profile referrals.

In any case the proof of the pudding is in the eating, not in quoting old threads. A Google search for my nick returns my WebmasterWorld profile as the first result (I sure hope that is not considered URL dropping :) ).

Check Is there a new post count schedule? [webmasterworld.com]. Brett periodically raises the thresholds as the size of the board increases.

If you check backlinks for your site, the WW profile page generaly shows up. So I gues it must get spidered.

Confirmed. Got GoogleBot to visit a page which is linked only through profile page.

I think may convince forum lurkers such as myself to contribute a little more :)

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Auradefect!

Alas, it takes more than 100 posts to get your profile PR, so contributing a little more won't do it. But if you contribute a lot more ...

And Remember that inactive members are deleted by Brett & co. So posting for a while and then disappearing will also not help ;)

Despite what Brett said in:
[webmasterworld.com...]
profiles are still available publicly.

If I was running this board, I'd be worried by that. (as indeed Brett says "The number of problems that have occured with profiles has steadily increased"). It's easy to think up a DOS attack based on publicly available profiles.....End up with Brett posting a "my site has a PR0: why!?" message.

It'd be a lot safer if profiles are behind the login wall.

I've seen WW profile backlinks on other members' profile URL link checks. I took mine off because I refuse to help my competitors find this jewel of a place. :)
