I begin by assuming that you have waited long enough for these links to have had a chance to be included, search engines do not update their databases instantaneously.

For Google I would assume that these personal web pages have a PR of less than 4 so they are not shown in the link: query. They may well be indexed, in which case they will pass some PR.

In the case of ATW I can only assume that these personal web pages are not indexed, as the general belief is that ATW shows all the links it knows about.

You will have to live with the reality that search engines are for the convenience of searchers, not of webmasters :)

Yep, probably the case. The personal pages need some links to them to get indexed to get the backlinks to the company site to show up.

But you might have the beginning of a good link strategy here. Check if the personal pages can get listed in directories, ODP, Zeal, SurfSafely, local, hobby, interest, blog, etc.

Always proceed with caution -- many posts on WW about pros and cons of different link strategies -- but might give the company site a leg up.

humpingdan,

have you tried the following:

Google = Find web pages that contain the term "john.com" or "site title"

and same again on ATW, this isnt the normal way of finding backlinks, but can often show some surprising results.
