Good Afternoon WebmasterWorld!
I was wondering if anyone has started a paid advertising campaign with sites such as Google Adwords or Overture to have their site up front in peoples faces in hopes it gets people to link back to your site? Has anyone done this, do you think it would work.

I just started a site, and in order for this site to be successful it needs traffic and links to it. On the front page I have a note asking people to link to this site, the people who would be linking most likely would have web pages already since its the high-tech widget market ;)

Am I wasting my dollars on this campaign in hopes to turn some of the traffic into some links? Is it worth it, I'm getting traffic to the site right now and I'm not paying more than 5-10 cents a click which is alright for me while I take the time to get it submitted to the engines.

Elite, all that sounds great. I guess the real question is: is your new site converting?

The site in question is more of a portal site, a site for news that all geeks would like of course it is all about widgets. Currently the site is not set to convert, advertisement will come at a later time. This site goes perfectly with my other sites so it will be used to help sell my other widgets in a few weeks once I get everyone into it.

:D
